Privacy Policy

Bookmark Saga is designed to keep your data on your machine. We do not collect or transmit personal data to remote servers. No analytics, tracking pixels, or third‑party cookies.

What we store

  • Your folder structure and saved items via the browser storage API.
  • Your theme preference (no remote sync by the extension).

What we access

  • Recent history entries (read‑only) to render the New Tab history view.
  • Tab navigation to open links or update the active tab when you click a result.
We do not: collect telemetry, use external databases, run background sync, or make hidden network calls. Favicons are fetched by your browser from the target site.

Additional data categories (opt‑in)

Personal Identifiable Information (PII)

  • What: Name, address, email, age.
  • How: Collected only if you voluntarily submit it (e.g., via contact/support forms or feedback surveys).
  • Why: To respond to support requests, provide updates you asked for, or deliver product communications you opted into.
  • Where stored: By default, data stays on your device. If you explicitly submit a form to us, it is transmitted for the stated purpose and not shared with third parties.
  • Retention: Kept only as long as needed for the stated purpose. You can request deletion at any time (see Contact).

Location (region only)

  • What: Approximate region (e.g., country/province/city level), not precise coordinates.
  • How: Derived from your selection or coarse signals (e.g., locale/region settings) when features require localization.
  • Why: To localize UI/content (language, date formats) and improve relevance.
  • Where stored: On-device; not sent remotely unless you submit it as part of a support message.

Web History

  • What: A local list of pages you visited (URL/title/timestamp) to power the History view.
  • Scope: Read‑only access enabled by the history permission; data is processed and displayed locally.
  • Export: If you choose to export, the data is saved to a file on your device (no uploads by the extension).

Deletion

You can delete saved items and folders at any time from the UI. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage. For complete removal, clear the extension’s storage via your browser’s site‑data tools.

If your region mandates DPA/DSAR processes, you retain full control since all data is local only.

Permissions

history — show your recent visits on New Tab

Read‑only access to titles, URLs, and visit timestamps to render the history grid. Nothing is uploaded.

storage — save folders & preferences

Used to persist saved items, folder structure, and theme settings in your browser.

tabs — open or update the active tab

Allows opening a saved page in the current tab or a new tab when you click results.

Data & Storage

  • Local‑first: All extension data remains in your browser storage.
  • Backups: You can export your saved items by copying the JSON from browser storage (a UI export may be added).
  • Favicons: Resolved via the site’s standard endpoints or your browser; no third‑party proxying.

No. Your folders, saved items, and preferences are local. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Can I use this without enabling history?
